follow up on Mosaic mural

Well, I did go to the unveiling, of the Mural I talked about in the last posting..I drove up to Calgary from WI stopping in glacier Park (taking a couple thousand photos)...the event was held at the International Jumping Show.(several more hundred photos)..it was unbelievable to see...238 original pieces of art coming together to make the huge running horse...I heard of another one in the works about the USA..couldn't wait to maybe get in one that one figuring I could do one for the USMC...but something happened, and maybe I didn't get into it, I don't know, so I decided to do one of my own...I cannot do the huge size, but 7' x9' will have to do as it will be do-able in my basement..I am now in process, the wall has been constructed (thanks to my hard working husband figuring it all out) and I got 252 pieces of 6"x6" panels all gessoed, velcroed, and stuck on the wall in order, I have the picture all drawn on...now I am working on the canvas version (working out the bugs) and about done with that...then I paint the big wall and start on the interesting part...I have a few friends wanting to help with a few..but it is a project I am very excited to be doing..I am so thankful to the gentlemen that did the horse one in Canada, and invited me into it, for it opened up a world of adventure..go to  http://www.muralmosaic.com/ to see the beautiful murals these wonderful guys did..I was in "The Horse Gift" mural with Vanyel as my last posting....

In Memory Of Vanyel

Painting done in acrylic and oil iridescents and pearliscents

In Memory of Vanyel Painted for the Mural Mosaic

Painting done for the Mural Mosaic project The Gift Horse. This is a neat project put together by a few artists. It is one of several huge murals. The mural is a painting that is divided into 200 plus segments (panels), they are sent to various artists around the world. The artists then paint a subject (in this case the horse) in keeping with the original color and line of the mother image. The artists then send the painting they created back to the project where it is assembled back into the mural. The hundreds of smaller paintings then turn back into the mother image. The enjoyment of looking at each of the paintings as individuals together making one big picture is very rewarding. It is an honor to be part of such a project, and I really enjoyed it. It then is unveiled in Alberta Canada, and goes on a tour to be shown in several places. I only wish I could be in Alberta for the unveiling. I hope to be able to go to one of the spots on the tour. The horse I painted was a beautiful Friesian Stallion "Vanyel." He passed away in 2005 and is greatly missed. I am happy to have captured his beautiful image for all to see. I love the black feathered horses. I love all horses, but the Friesians seem special to me, maybe because they somehow remind me of morgans, (like an extreme verson), so it brings back the feelings I had as a girl for my morgan "Andy" he was a friend to me.
